These courses are designed for those aged 16+ who are working with children and infants; particularly teachers, child minders, crèche assistants, playgroup personnel and anyone else who has a responsibility for their welfare whilst in your care.
Paediatric First Aid accreditation satisfies the guidelines and criteria laid down by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted, with Emergency Paediatric First Aid accreditation serving as the first of two units.
All of our course options are available for both individual and group bookings and cater up to a maximum of 12 attendees.
Paediatric First Aid takes place over 12 contact hours, ordinarily split over 2 consecutive days.
Emergency Paediatric First Aid courses are facilitated across 6 contact hours, ordinarily during 1 day of delivery.
We are happy to offer flexibility outside of these times to accommodate to your needs.
Paediatric First Aid gives learners the skills and confidence to respond to a range of accidents and first aid emergencies they could encounter.
Practical and theoretical activities include:
- Role of the Paediatric First Aider*
- Diabetic emergencies
- Primary survey*
- Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED)*
- Minor injuries*
- Wounds, bleeding and shock*
- Recovery position*
- Febrile convulsions
- Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis
- Extreme cold and heat
- Head, neck and back injuries
- Foreign bodies
- Electrical incidents

FAA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid
FAA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid
Assessment is ongoing by the instructor, along with a multiple choice question paper. A three year Level 3 Award will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment.
Qualification lasts for 3 years with renewal through re-attendance on the course required after that period. Annual refresher courses are recommended during the 3 year window.
