This course is specifically for those who hold a First Aid at Work qualification that is due to expire.
Attendance at the requalification course is dependent on that qualification being no more than 1 month past the expiry date. ‘Special considerations’ may be applied up to 3 months past the expiry date but typically attendance at the 3-day First Aid at Work course would then be required.
It is worth remembering that as soon as a certificate expires, the individual is no longer classed as ‘competent’ to act as first aider in the workplace. With this in mind, early scheduling of the First Aid at Work Requalification would be prudent to ensure there is no shortfall of first aiders.
All of our course options are available for both individual and group bookings and cater up to a maximum of 12 attendees.
12 contact hours ordinarily split over 2 consecutive days. We are happy to offer flexibility outside of these times to accommodate to your needs.
Attendance at this 2-day course offsets the requirement to attend a 3-day course.
EFAW gives learners the skills and confidence to respond to a range of accidents and first aid emergencies they could encounter in the workplace.
Practical and theoretical activities include:
- Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
- Heart attacks
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Eye injuries
- Fractures and spinal injuries
- Control of bleeding
- Chest injuries
- Assessment of the situation
- Shock (including Anaphylaxis)
- Head injuries
- Sprains and strains
FAA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work
As with the 3-day First Aid at Work course, qualification lasts for 3 years. Renewal through re-attendance of the First Aid at Work Requalification is required after that period and annual refresher courses are recommended during the 3 year window.
Summative practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor each day, along with a written assessment on each day. A three year Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment.
