There is a growing body of evidence that suggests that positive engagement with nature and the natural environment can lead to a reduction in stress, anxiety and depression which are all factors that affect mental and physical well-being, and educational attendance and attainment. It is for this reason that we have included outdoor learning as one the key principles of our work.
By offering young people the chance to learn new skills they will be better equipped to make better choices, have increased confidence, better communication skills, more pride in themselves and their community, better engagement with alternative academic achievement, a healthier lifestyle, less interest in criminal activity, and a better understanding of nature.
Have you heard about our new Outdoor Learning Centre?
Located on Bishopstoke Road, Eastleigh the Youth Options Outdoor Learning Centre is a dedicated outdoor space to deliver a variety of programmes that engage young people with nature as a tool to develop their social and emotional capabilities, engage with learning and make positive decisions.
