Youth Options is delighted to have been awarded over £450,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund to deliver a new 4-year project called “Families Together” in partnership with Learning Links. Families Together will provide a range of ‘positive activities’ for families experiencing child on parent violence across Hampshire including Southampton and Portsmouth.
Building on existing good practice to create a more holistic, flexible & joined up service for such families. Families Together will join Leaning Links’ expertise around Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) services with Youth Options’ expertise delivering positive, engaging activities, that build social and emotional capabilities for the whole family, parents, child and non-focus siblings. The project, which will be participant driven and facilitated to develop teamwork, problem solving, communication and emotional behaviours, aims to support approximately 144 families over 4 years.
Families Together aims to ensure participating families experience a reduced number of violent incidences in the family home between child and parent. That school absence reduces, and all members of the family experience improved social and emotional wellbeing including improved family relations and ability to build and maintain friendships.
