Youth Options is delighted to have been awarded over £450,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to deliver a new 4-year project called “Families Together”. Families Together will provide a new service that will join Non Violent Resistance (NVR) with access to positive, engaging activities for families experiencing child on parent violence across Hampshire including Southampton and Portsmouth.
Families Together aims to ensure participating families experience a reduced number of violent incidences in the family home between child and parent; that school absence reduces, and all members of the family experience improved social and emotional wellbeing including improved family relations and ability to build and maintain friendships. The project, which will be participant driven and facilitated to develop teamwork, problem solving, communication and emotional behaviours, aims to support approximately 144 families over 4 years.
Jemma Cowley, who has experience of delivering Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) services, recently joined Youth Options to head up the team delivering this programme which will build on our existing experience of delivering positive, engaging activities. The Families Together programme will provide the target families with an integrated offer that will support them to overcome the issues associated with child on parent violence building on existing good practice to create a more holistic, flexible & joined up service for such families.
We are actively recruiting two Youth Support Workers to work with Jemma and the team, who will be working with families across Hampshire from a team base in Portsmouth. See here for the application.
